About

I'm Sathvica Kothapalli, a second-year PhD student in Informatics at Indiana University Bloomington, advised by Dr. Katie Siek, and a member of the ProHealth Lab. I'm interested in how we can build more reliable AI systems for healthcare by choosing and using the right data. My current work focuses on healthcare data quality, especially how datasets are assessed for reliability, representativeness, and fitness for use.

More broadly, I’m interested in the real-world consequences of AI deployment in healthcare and in how data-related decisions shape system performance, reliability, and harm. I care about helping develop AI systems that are more responsible and better suited to the settings in which they are used, with a particular interest in healthcare equity and women’s health.
